A court in Ananthapur district of Andhra Pradesh has issued a non-bailable warrant against cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni in connection with a case of hurting religious sentiments.
This cover page titled ‘God Of Big Deals’ in ‘Business Today’ magazine’s April 2013 edition has come under the spanner. Dhoni is shown as a Hindu God in this picture endorsing lot of products including a shoe.The court has asked Dhoni to be present in person on February 25. This petition was filed by a local Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Shyam Sunder. He alleged that the Indian captain had hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus by posing as Lord Vishnu for a magazine. Dhoni’s lawyer Rajneesh Chopra said “Mahendra Singh Dhoni has utmost respect for the judiciary but the fact of the matter is that he has personally never received any summons with respect to the present case; therefore the order appears to be erroneous”.
