Talented and beautiful Tina Dutta, popularly known as ‘television’s Ichcha’, has come a long way, when it comes to showcasing her acting talent. Tina who got her celebrity status at the tender age of 16, in the Rituparno Ghosh movie Choker Bali, later went on to be part of the Hindi movie Parineeta.
Tina struck gold by bagging the lead role of Ichcha in Colors’ Uttaran. Rest has been history for the girl, as the show brought in a complete transformation in her as an actor.
Now, Tina awaits her next prized project post Uttaran… Yes, she is raring to make a comeback.
In an exclusive conversation with Tellychakkar.com, Tina lets out a lot of information her likes and dislikes, her reactions to controversies, thoughts about her future etc…
How has life treated you post Uttaran?
Life has been good. I am just chilling and enjoying. I am doing things which I always wanted to do and am in the process of learning new things as well.
What keeps you busy these days?
I keep reading books; I am learning dancing and I do power yoga. I also love to paint portraits.
Are you a travel buff? How often do you pack your bags and leave for a planned destination?
Yes. I am a travel person. I recently had been to Dubai, Leh- Ladakh and Kolkata. I love to travel to different places and explore them.
Which are the places you love to regularly visit?
I regularly visit the temples. Otherwise travelling and exploring different places is what I like to do the most.
What does inner peace mean to you?
Inner peace for me is something that gives me happiness and keeps me content.
Where do you find inner peace – greenery, hilly regions, or water area?
I love greenery.
You have been dragged into quite a lot of controversies. How would you describe Tina Dutta as a person?
I am a very chilled out person and take time to get along with people. I don’t talk much at the first meeting; and this has lead to people assuming that I have a lot of attitude. Once I make a friend, I can go to any extent for friendship. In simple words, I know what kind of a person I am. As for controversies, any news is good news, and I take it sportingly.
How do you take negativity and controversies in your stride?
Like I said any news is good news, I take it very positively and try to ignore it as much as I can. I don’t let it affect my personal or professional life. So I just take it positively and try not to react to it.
What’s the worst rumour that you have ever heard of?
I am married, was the worst rumour I have ever heard of myself.
Talking about future, what does the road ahead have for you?
I want to do something very challenging and nice. I don’t mind doing a typical daily normal soap, but yes if given an opportunity I would love to play a teenage character who gets married later or something like that.
What keeps you away from signing on to your next, after Uttaran?
I have not got a project that attracts me or one that gives me a ‘wow’ factor, or something which makes me feel like this is the character I was waiting to play. I am really looking for something challenging and different.
Do you want to experiment with genres?
Yes. Definitely I would love to do that.
Do you like to see yourself in a mytho/historical/fantasy show? If so, what are the kinds of roles you are looking at?
Not really. I can actually imagine the ones who are doing historical shows, shooting in sunny days, with those heavy outfits and jewellery on. I would like to do shows based on youth relating to my character or my personal life. Characters which are bubbly, lively and young suit me.
The happiest day for you will be when…
Every day is a happy day for me. Otherwise the day I receive an award is a happy day for me.
Any fan reaction that has remained etched in your mind?
Every now and then there are many fan reactions that I come across. But their love, care, blessings and affection always remains in my mind.
What has the industry taught you over the years?
Industry has taught me to be patient, calm and at times to be diplomatic, which I can’t be. Also one needs to be smart in some situations.
How do your parents and family react when they see you as a bright star, in terms of acting?
They really support me a lot. The best thing is that their support has helped me achieve many things. My parents are always happy in whatever I do and always bless and support me.
