Veteran actress and renowned filmmaker V. Shantaram’s wife, Sandhya Shantaram, passed away on Friday at the age of 94. Her last rites were performed at Vaikunth Dham, Shivaji Park, Dadar.
Though no official statement has been released regarding the cause of death, sources indicated that she had been suffering from age-related ailments.
Sandhya Shantaram was best remembered for her powerful performances in her husband’s films. She became a household name with Pinjara and also delivered memorable roles in cinematic classics like Do Aankhen Barah Haath, Jhanak Jhanak Payal Baaje, Navrang, and Amar Bhoopali. Her grace, expressions, and remarkable dance skills made her one of the most admired actresses of the golden era of Indian cinema.
