Thug Life takes over Delhi: Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam lead the charge
Press Conference
Delhi was set ablaze with cinematic firepower as the titans of Indian cinema—Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam along with actress Abhirami and producer Siva Ananth descended upon the capital for an unforgettable press conference that thugged the very foundations of film fandom. The occasion was the grand Delhi showcase of the Thug Life trailer, Kamal Haasan x Mani Ratnam’s explosive gangster epic that’s taking the internet by storm.
The film’s legends garnered thunderous applause as the trailer for Thug Life played on the massive LED screen, drawing cheers from the crowd. Gritty, intense, and dripping with cinematic brilliance, the trailer cemented what fans have long suspected – Thug Life is here to make history.
Kamal Haasan, returning to the underworld genre after decades, was introduced in the trailer as Rangaraya Sakthivel Naickar—a formidable gangster whose name echoes legacy and power. Sharing the stage with him was director Mani Ratnam, reuniting with Haasan after their iconic 1987 masterpiece Nayakan. The trailer, set against sweeping visuals of parched deserts and frozen landscapes, pulsates with A.R. Rahman’s signature music. It promises a sweeping narrative of betrayal, vengeance, and power struggles, with a star-studded cast.
Talking about his collaboration with Kamal Haasan and how different they are on set, Mani Ratnam said,” Me and Kamal are sufficiently different so that it becomes complimentary, and we are just not repeating each other. I think one helps the other, and therefore it’s easy to work. You can see a scene developing in front of your eyes and getting better. I think that different is a great asset”
Produced by Kamal Haasan’s Raaj Kamal Films International, Mani Ratnam’s Madras Talkies, R. Mahendran, and Siva Ananth, Thug Life boasts an ensemble cast of stellar performers. Kamal Haasan leads the film as Rangaraaya Sakthivel Naicker, alongside Silambarasan TR, Trisha Krishnan, Ashok Selvan, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Joju George, Ali Fazal, Sanya Malhotra, and Rohit Saraf, among others.
With Mani Ratnam at the helm and A.R. Rahman’s music, Thug Life is all set for a worldwide theatrical release on June 5, 2025.
