Actor Allu Arjun Arrested in Connection with Hyderabad Stampede During Pushpa 2 Premiere

Telugu superstar Allu Arjun was arrested on Friday in connection with a tragic stampede at the premiere of his film Pushpa 2 in Hyderabad, which resulted in the death of a 39-year-old woman and left her son critically injured. The incident occurred at the Sandhya Theatre on December 4, where inadequate crowd management reportedly led to chaos.

Arrest and Legal Developments

The Hyderabad Police Commissioner’s Task Force and Chikkadpally police arrived at Arjun’s residence and took him into custody. A case had been filed against the theatre management, the actor, and his security team for their alleged roles in the incident. The charges include culpable homicide not amounting to murder under BNS Section 105 and voluntarily causing hurt under Section 118(1) r/w 3(5).

Arjun’s lawyers swiftly filed a lunch motion petition in the Telangana High Court, seeking to prevent his arrest until Monday. The petition is scheduled for hearing at 2:30 PM.

Actor’s Response to Arrest

While Arjun did not resist the arrest, he expressed displeasure over the police entering his bedroom without prior notice. Before being taken into custody, he requested water and tea and reassured his wife. His father, noted film producer Allu Aravind, accompanied him to the police station.

After his statement was recorded, Arjun was taken to Gandhi Hospital for a medical examination before being presented in court.
