Arjun Kapoor Opens Up About his Depression and health issues

Arjun Kapoor, recently seen in Singham Again, has shared insights into his battles with Hashimoto’s disease and mild depression. In a heartfelt interview, he described how Hashimoto’s, an autoimmune thyroid condition, affects his body, sometimes causing him to gain weight unexpectedly, even after flights.

The actor explained, “My body goes into distress. I can take a flight and gain weight.” Hashimoto’s has been a family concern; his mother and sister also manage the condition, which he noticed affecting him more as his career progressed.

What were Steps taken by Kapoor to Cure his Mental Health ?

To address these challenges, Kapoor sought therapy last year. He usually handles struggles privately but recognized he needed help when he lost joy in watching films—a long-time passion. This period of self-reflection made him question his future in the industry and whether he would find his place in it again.

Kapoor shared that his struggles created emotional turbulence, though he isn’t naturally bitter. The weight of these emotions grew heavier until he sought ways to cope, including watching YouTube shorts for distraction and trying therapy with multiple therapists before finding the right fit.

After several sessions, he was diagnosed with mild depression. He felt this diagnosis was accurate, describing his experience as “very circumstantial,” shaped by specific life events and stresses.

Reflecting on his journey, Kapoor noted how self-doubt can deeply impact anyone, especially when professional setbacks arise. These doubts become persistent, amplifying negative emotions. He acknowledged that his struggles with weight began early, as he dealt with being a “fat kid,” which left emotional scars that affected his view on food and self-care.

The actor remains focused on building resilience and continues prioritizing his health. Kapoor’s journey underscores the importance of mental health support and self-compassion in navigating the ups and downs of life and career.
