Govinda breaks silence after the gunshot incident . ‘I was shot but…’

Shiv Sena Leader and actor Govinda was caught in misfire of his own licensed firearm

Bollywood actor and Shiv Sena leader Govinda was rushed to Criti Care Hospital in Juhu, Mumbai, on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, after an accidental misfire from his licensed firearm caused a self-inflicted leg injury. The actor, who is also a former Member of Parliament, underwent emergency surgery to remove the bullet. Thankfully, he is now in stable condition and recovering well.

In an audio message shared by Shiv Sena leader Krishna Hegde, Govinda expressed his gratitude to his supporters and medical team. He stated, “Namaste, pranam. I am Govinda. Due to your blessings, my parents’ blessings, and the grace of my guru, I was shot, but the bullet has been removed. I thank the doctors here, especially Dr. Garwal. Thank you all for your prayers and support.”

As reported by *The Indian Express*, the accident happened as Govinda was preparing to leave for Kolkata. His manager, Shashi Sinha, explained that while Govinda was placing his licensed revolver in an almirah, the firearm accidentally fell, causing it to discharge. The bullet struck just below Govinda’s left knee. Fortunately, doctors quickly performed surgery, and the bullet was successfully removed. Govinda is now communicating with everyone and in good spirits.

Govinda’s daughter, Tina Ahuja, who was at the hospital, shared that her father would remain in the ICU for a day following the surgery, with further assessments planned. Govinda’s wife, Sunita Ahuja, rushed back from her travels to be by his side after hearing the news.

Earlier this year, Govinda joined Shiv Sena ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, citing the party’s integrity as his reason for aligning with them. We wish Govinda a swift recovery and will continue to provide updates on his condition.
