Payal Ghosh accedes conditional apology to Richa Chadha; HC directs to file consent terms
Actress Richa Chadha and Payal Ghosh’s have been making headlines ever since the latter dragged ‘Fukrey’ actress’ name while accusing filmmaker Anurag Kashyap of sexual harassment. Following this Richa sought legal action against Payal and filed a defamation suit in Bombay High court. Later, Payal agreed to resolve the case in the court by apologising to Richa, however, later she slew from her statement and refused to seek apology on her social media account. But now it seems the scenario has been changed for Payal as, on Monday, the HC granted two days to Payal and Richa to file their consent terms to settle the matter in court.
Reportedly, Bengali actress, Payal Ghosh, is now willing to apologize to Richa provided that the latter does not file any further criminal charges against her after the settlement. Earlier, in the court, Ghosh’s lawyer had stated that his client is ready to seek an apologize and will withdraw her statement, which was later refused by her on social media.
On Monday, however, Chadha’s lawyer, advocateSaveenaBedi Sachar informed the court about the same to which the HC asked Payal’s lawyer Nitin Satpute if his client is interested in settling the matter. Satputeon his client Payal’s behalf said that she will withdraw her statement and apologize but on certain conditions.
“After settling this matter, the plaintiff (Richa) should not file any criminal case against Payal,” Satpute said. “After the last hearing, the plaintiff made certain statements to the media saying she has won the case. This has resulted in Payal being trolled on social media. But, we would like to settle the matter,” the lawyer said.
Meanwhile, the HC has directed the concerned parties to file a consent term on October 14 adding that no extra time would be given to them.
