Kangana issues notice to BMC; Demands Rs 2 crore in damage compensation

The Maharashtra civic body, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), has self-invited problems after running government’s high octane power show as they demolished the ‘Queen’ actress’ Pali Hill situated office on September 9, when the actress was at loggerhead with the ruling state party Shiv Sena and its leaders, Sanjay Raut and state CM Uddhav Thackeray.

As the demolition was criticised by many and was alleged to be ‘politically motivated’, BMC after slapping 24-hours notice razed the bungalow with bulldozers for ‘structural violation’ while Kangana was on her way back to Mumbai from Manali, where she has been putting up since the lockdown was imposed. As per reports, the actress was left with an estimated INR 2 crore debris as many artefacts and antiques were also demolished during BMC officials taking down the parts of her home-cum-office. Though the actress had challenged the BMC for their illegal actions as she already has all the papers suggesting no ‘structural violation’ on her property, Kangana upon reaching her hometown, Manali, Himachal Pradesh, on Monday, issued a legal notice to BMC demanding damage compensation for taking down her property.

According to a report, the ‘Manikarnika’ actress has issued a notice to the BMC seeking a hefty amount in compensation to the damage done to her property. The actress reportedly has demanded INR 2 Crore damage compensation from the municipal body. As per previous reports, Kangana’s Lawyer Rizwan Siddiqui, alleged that the actress has suffered a loss of Rs 2 crore. Siddiqui told media, Kangana “suffered losses worth Rs 2 crore” as several expensive artefacts and luxury items were also destroyed while BMC official razed the building.

Talking about BMC her Lawyer said, “Never have I seen such action in my entire career. It is evident that it was driven by an ulterior motive, a hidden agenda behind all this.  Doesn’t BMC, Bandra police officers have anything else to do during COVID times? Will make sure damages will be recovered at any cost.”

For the unversed, taking her stand on newly discovered drug angle linked to Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case, Kangana Ranaut, had criticised Mumbai Police and had said that she feared the Mumbai Police more than what she called ‘movie mafia’. Which started a war of words against Maharashtra administration and Kangana. Being critical of her comment state Home Minister Anil Deshmukh said without naming Kangana that who think Mumbai isn’t safe for them (to live in), they have no right to live in Mumbai or Maharashtra. Which didn’t go down well with the actress and she went on to an extent to compare Mumbai with ‘Pakistan Occupied Kashmir’ and then Taliban and then came the day when after announcing her arrival in Mumbai on September 9 Kangana came to see the political vendetta of Uddhav Thackeray led government, Shiv Sena which through its civic body, BMC, brought her bungalow to the ground as a repay for Kangana’s fearless fight against state administration.
