Indian Railways Has Placed Its First Plastic Crushing Machine Inside A Train
We have often seen people buy bisleri bottles to drink water but when it gets over, we throw that plastic bottles and litter everywhere. The first initiative is taken towards #NOMOREPLASTIC which is a machine that crushes plastic bottles that have been installed 0n platforms and the coaches too. Indian Railway put the efforts and following Prime Minister Narendra Modi thought to make India plastic-free, starting the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on October 2.
The crushing machine has a capacity of 3000 bottles/day and it enables recycling of 90 percent PET waste bottles. The carbon footprint is reduced by 100 percent during this crushing process and it also avoids littering.
First time in the country, Indian Railways has installed a PET bottle crushing machine in the LHB pantry car (03840 WR). This initiative by the Western Railways for installing the bottle crushing machine may reduce plastic bottle waste to a large extent. The Railway Ministry also shared a short Hindi film titled “Main Hoon Plastic Hatela”. It is for awareness against single-use plastic.
