‘Fanney Khan’ In Trouble! Producer Vashu Bhagnani Files A Legal Suit

Anil Kapoor and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan starrer movie ‘Fanney Khan’ is all set to release on 3rd August. The trailer was released last month and it received mixed responses from the viewers. But now the movie is in soup before its release.

On Monday Vashu Bhagnani moved the Supreme Court against the release of ‘Fanney Khan’. The case was presented by Bhagnani’s lawyer in front of the bench of Chief Justice Dipak Misra, Justice A.M. Khawhilkar and Justice D.Y. Chandrachud. The hearing in on 1st August. Bhagnani claims that the film’s distribution rights for India were given to his company Pooja Entertainment Films Ltd. He had earlier demanded his rights for the film and also credits as a co-producer. The statement also states that he holds the distribution, exhibition, and exploitation of commercial and non-commercial theatrical rights of Fanney Khan in all India territories.

Bhagnani also claimed that sole distribution rights for the film were sold to it and it has deposited an amount of Rs 8.50 crore, out of an agreed Rs 10 crore payment, and as per the agreement, the remaining money need only be paid a week before the film’s release.

Two petitions are pending before the Delhi and Bombay High Courts. The petitioner sought direction for transfer of the cases pending in the Bombay High Court to the Delhi High Court or to the Supreme Court and stay the release of the film.
