SOORMA Day 7 Box Office Collection: First Week Ends With A Healthy Collection
Diljit Dosanjh starrer ‘Soorma’, a biopic on hockey player Sandeep Singh, has been able to make good business in the first three days of its release. The movie released on 13th July and it collected a sum of Rs 3.25 crore on its first day. On Day 2 i.e on Saturday, it saw 45-50% growth and collected Rs 5.05 crore making the total collection to Rs 8.30 crore. Followed by a strong word of mouth, the biopic raked in Rs 5.60 crore on Sunday, taking its first weekend total collection to Rs 13.90 crore. On Monday, the biopic minted Rs 2 crore. So, on the fourth day, the box office collection stands at Rs 15.90 crore. On Tuesday, the movie minted Rs 1.94 crore taking the total collection of the movie to Rs 17.79 crore. On Wednesday, it earned Rs 1.77 crore, thereby collecting Rs 19.56 crore. The first week of the movie has ended and it ended on a total collection of Rs 21.21 crore.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the box collection on his Twitter handle. He wrote, “#Soorma biz is not in sync with its merits… Was steady [on the lower side] on weekdays… Will have to stay strong in Weekend 2… Fri 3.20 cr, Sat 5.05 cr, Sun 5.60 cr, Mon 2 cr, Tue 1.94 cr, Wed 1.77 cr, Thu 1.65 cr. Total: ₹ 21.21 cr. India biz.”
Soorma released on 1,100 screens across India. It also released in Pakistan, reportedly occupying 80% of the Pakistani screens. The movie got rave reviews from the audience. The film also stars Taapsee Pannu, Angad Bedi and Siddharth Shukla in titular roles. ‘Dhadak’ has released today and it might be crucial for Soorma to rake in big moolah in the coming weeks.
