‘Udta Punjab’ director Abhishek Chaubey has turned 41 today. He was born on 30th March 1977 in Faizabad, UP. Abhishek has spent most of his childhood days in Jamshedpur, Patna, and Ranchi. He has done his 10th from St. Xavier, Ranchi and did his 12th from Hyderabad. He did his graduation in English literature from Hindu College, Delhi. After completion of his studies, he moved to Mumbai to do a course from Xavier Institute Of Communications and then his journey of direction started. He started his career as an assistant director for Vishal Bharadwaj’s ‘Makdee’. After this, he assisted Vishal for movies like ‘Omkara’ and ‘Kaminey’. He made his debut as a director with the movie ‘Ishqiya’. The movie starred popular stars like Vidya Balan, Naseeruddin Shah, and Arshad Warsi. The movie was produced by Vishal Bharadwaj. After this ‘Dedh Ishqiya’ was the sequel to it.Abhishek Chaubey was very much in news for the drug-themed movie ‘Udta Punjab’. Censor Board reportedly imposed 89 cuts upon the movie before giving a certificate. Due to this, there was a tiff between Anurag Kashyap, one of the producers of the movie and then Censor Board chief, Pahlaj Nihalani. There was also a legal battle and after the tussle, the CBFC issued an ‘A’ certificate to ‘Udta Punjab’.Currently, Abhishek Chaubey is busy shooting for his upcoming movie ‘Son Chiriya’. The movie stars Bhumi Pednekar and Sushant Singh Rajput in lead roles. It also has Ashutosh Rana, Manoj Bajpayee, and Ranvir Shorey.
