Here’s why Sushant Singh Rajput was replaced by John Abraham in Romeo Akbar Walter (RAW)

After Sushant Singh Rajput’s untimely demise, many factors came to light that was alleged to be the contributing forces in actor’s purported suicide. Not only Nepotism, favoritism, gangism were said to be the triggering cause of his depression but also the fact that Sushant was either loosing many big projects or was being replaced last minute in the movies.

Sushant was dropped of several projects, such as ‘Fitoor’, ‘Half Girlfriend’, ‘Romeo Akbar Walter’ and many others. Talking about Robbie Grewal’s RAW (Romeo Akbar Walter), the actor was replaced by John Abraham. Back in 2017, Sushant Singh Rajput had spoken in an interview in June about wrapping up the shoot of the film by the end of the year.

Sushant had signed the film in February of 2017, but was eventually replaced by John Abraham. There were also rumours of Abhishek Bachchan replacing the actor, however, later in March 2018, it was finalized that John Abraham will be the lead actor of Romeo Akbar Walter(RAW).

The period thriller was scheduled to go on floors on October 1, 2017 and end by November 30. The movie had Sushant in the lead role of a spy, and posters had even been designed with the actor front-and-centre. But the actor, in August, walked out of the film citing date issues.

As per media reports, the makers had plans to make the film on a larger scale for which the script had to undergo major changes, thus, procrastinating the production work a little further.

Talking about it Sushant Singh Rajput had said, “Unfortunately due to changes in my prior commitments I will not be able to be a part of Romeo Akbar Walter. I wanted to be a part of the project because I love the story and I believe it’s a story which must be told. However due to unavoidable circumstances I won’t be a part of this journey. I wish the producers all the very best for the project.”

The film was wrapped up in June of 2018 in a start to finish 60 day schedule. The movie cast also includes Jackie Shroff, Mouni Roy and Sikandar Kher among others. The film was released in the theatres on April 5, 2019.

Back then Sushant had several other movies in his bag including ‘Kedarnath’, ‘Drive’, ‘Chanda Mama Door Ke’ and ‘Sonchiriya’.
