Padmaavat’ holds its ground on Day 11 of release
Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus ‘Padmaavat’ which released worldwide on January 25th, 2018 continues to maintain its hold and stay strong at the box office. The film which has been made on a whopping budget of Rs.200 crore including promotions and marketing recently crossed the Rs.150 crore mark and has now gone ahead to rake in over Rs.200 crore at the box office.
As per box office estimates by trade, the film has raked in a total of Rs.203.01 crore while the producers quote a box office collection of Rs.192.5 crore on its eleventh day after the release of the film. The film grossed Rs.18 crore on its eleventh day alone which also is the second Sunday since the film’s release.
According to overseas business, the film has earned a total of $12 Million or Rs 76.29 Crore gross including $4.98 Million or Rs 31.71 Crore gross in USA and Canada. ‘Padmaavat’ is the second highest opening weekend grosser in overseas headed by ‘Sultan’ for Hindi films.
The historic visual spectacle which is based on the 16th-century poet Malik Muhammad Jayasi’s Sufi poem ‘Padmavat’ written in 1540 also stars Shahid Kapoor, Aditi Rao Hydari, Jim Sarbh, Raza Murad and Anupriya Goenka in prominent roles. The epic historical drama has already turned out to be one of the biggest openers of director Sanjay Leela Bhansali and actors Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh.
The fact that there is no big release of any Bollywood film in the current week has gained ‘Padmaavat’ brownie points at the box office thus helping it gross good box office collections.
