‘Padmaavat’ vs ‘Baahubali 2’: Which will be a bigger hit?

Ever since news about the making of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus broke out, the industry and trade pundits began drawing comparisons with the high successful epic revenge drama ‘Baahubali 2’. While it still remains to be seen which film would be the highest grosser, here’s a comparison of the current box office collections of ‘Padmaavat’ with that of ‘Baahubali 2’.

‘Padmaavat’ has completed four days of its run in theatres since its release on January 25th, 2018. As per its 4th day collections, ‘Padmaavat’ has crossed the Rs. 100 crore mark at the box office in India with its total collections being Rs. 110.86 Crore net trade figure and Rs. 114 Crore according to Producer figures. The worldwide gross total amounts to Rs. 200 Crore plus at the box office.

Comparing the above collections with that of ‘Baahubali 2’, there’s not an iota of doubt that ‘Baahubali 2’ faired tremendously well on its fourth day. As per its fourth day collections, the net trade figure for the Hindi version of the film stood at Rs. 161.3 Crore while the net producer figures for the Hindi version stood at Rs. 168.25 Crore easily surpassing the four day collections of ‘Padmaavat’. Moreover, the total 4th day collections for all languages was Rs. 383 Crore and the worldwide total for all languages stood at a whopping Rs. 600 Crore, contrary to Padmaavat’s Rs. 200 Crore plus at the box office.

Looking at the above figures, one can easily say that it’s certainly going to take a while for ‘Padmaavat’ to surpass the box office collections of ‘Baahubali 2’.
