Madhur Bhandarkar’s Chandni Bar will have a sequel after 17 years. The sequel will start shooting by the end of this year. Bhandarkar will once again direct the sequel, which will be produced by Shailesh R Singh.
Confirming the news, Shailesh was quoted saying to Mumbai Mirror, “I am really excited to produce Chandni Bar 2 with Madhur as the director once again. I have already acquired the rights to the film and can’t wait to take it on the floors.”
Chandni Bar 2 will revolve around the aftermath of 2005 ban of the dance bars. Talking about the same, a source close to the director was quoted saying to the daily, “Madhur has put in a lot of research on the aftermath of the 2005 ban on dance bars and has set the film around the same time and subject. He has a lot of material ready and works on the script has already begun.” The director will start casting process once the final draft of the movie is locked. The movie is excepted to start rolling by the end of 2017.
Chandni Bar features Tabu and Atul Kulkarni in the lead roles, the movie dealt with the mysterious life of Mumbai underworld including gunfight, prostitution and dance bars. The movie was highly acclaimed and won four National Film Awards including best actress for Tabu.
