She is paired opposite Shahid Kapoor’s half brother Ishaan Khattar. After the first look of poster was revealed, many commented that Janhvi looks like a mirror image of Sridevi in the pictures.

Dhadak is reportedly a remake of 2016 hit Marathi film, Sairat, starring Rinku Rajguru and Akash Thosar. The movie revolves around two teenagers who will seen struggling against the caste system for their love. Film is scheduled to release on July 6, 2018.

Janhvi’s mother veteran actress Sridevi is very excited yet nervous for her daughter’s debut movie. Talking to leading portal she said that, “As a mother can’t help but give her tips about everything – from how to dress to what she eats.” On making space in industry Sridevi said “Children have their own mind. When it comes to her work, I don’t want to advise. She must cultivate her craft all by herself, make her own choices and chart her own path”.

Talking about comparison between Jahnvi and Sara Khan, Sridedvi said that, “Competition can never be eliminated from this industry. There is nothing wrong with it. It keeps you on your toes, making you work harder. But, the biggest challenge lay in bettering your craft, and faring better than you did the last time… You don’t have to turn your face away from each other just because you are pitted against one another at work.”
