Virat Kohli Misbehaved With An Umpire, Landed Himself In Trouble

Virat Kohli is a cricketer, who is known for playing the game with lots of emotions. Indian skipper never hides away his emotions, he is very expressive in that sense. This is visible when he plays the game.

Virat has been fined 25 percent of his match fee for his behavior against the standing Umpire during 3rd Day of Second Test Match against South Africa.

Issuing a statement, ICC said, “India captain Virat Kohli has been fined 25 per cent of his match fee and received one demerit point for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the third day’s play in the second Test against South Africa at Centurion on Monday,”

The incident happened during the second innings of South Africa. In the 25th over, Kohli was continuously complaining to umpire Michael Gough about the ball being affected by a damp outfield after the rain delay. Then he threw the ball into the ground in an aggressive manner.

Kohli has been found to breach Article 2.1.1 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to “conduct that is contrary to the spirit of the game.”

Kohli pleaded guilty to the offense and accepted the accepted the fine proposed by Match Referee  Chris Broad. There was no hearing required further.

Level 1 breaches have a minimum penalty of an official reprimand and the maximum penalty of 50 percent of the match fee and one or two demerit points.
