Key takeaways:

- Recently, the filmmaker disclosed his least favourite film genre.
Rohit Shetty is one of the very rare directors in Indian cinema who have aced the masala entertainer film genre like no other.
Over the years, Shetty proved himself as one of the most bankable commercial directors in the nation with back-to-back hits like the Golmaal series and the Singham universe.
Even though the director has been criticized for not exploring other movie categories and sticking to a comfort zone, in a recent chat with ETimes, Rohit Shetty unveiled the reason behind this decision.
Rohit Shetty on his least favourite film category
In the interview, the filmmaker revealed that he never enjoyed dark movies and would never try to make one. “I will never attempt to make a dark thriller.”

I can never make such movies, which are shot in darkness with two people in a single space. It is not part of my plan,” said Rohit Shetty.
“I cannot make a serious film because I don’t enjoy watching that kind of movie. Whenever I think of producing something like that, it just doesn’t make sense to me,” added the Cirkus filmmaker.
Audience expectancies and more
Rohit Shetty says his fans do not expect him to produce or direct a dark movie without humour. He further says, “That is not my fans. I know what my viewers expect from me, and I am happy catering to them and engaging them.”
Rohit’s upcoming films
Cirkus, the highly awaited Rohit Shetty directorial, is slated to hit the cinemas on December 23, Friday. The movie stars Ranveer Singh in the lead role and is lauded to be an adaptation of William Shakespeare’s The Comedy Of Errors.
