Indian film industry is like our society, which has been male-dominated for years. However, the problem are getting addressed nowadays. Some female actors have come out in open and address the issue. They have talked about the discrimination they faced, we are happy that it is finally happening.

Taapsee Pannu has talked about her struggles in Indian film industry at recently held India Today Conclave. The actress also talked about how she felt like the heroine was always a replaceable object in the film, which was not the case with the hero.

It hurts but she had a valid remark when she said that a woman has been targeted more by social media trolls more than a man. In her words,

“As a woman, you have to be ready for the kind of backlash and trolling you gonna get.”

While talking about the male dominance in Indian film industry, she said,

“I have been fighting this in the industry for four years since the time I realized that I am a replaceable object in the film but a hero is not.”

She further talked about how the failure of the movie is always credited to the female lead. It has been going on in the industry for a very long time. In her words,

“I am the one who’s gonna take the brunt of a film’s failure, not a hero.”

She also thinks that these things will not change, until and unless we do something about this whole situation. Talking about the same she said,

“I have to do my bit to make a difference.”

Talking an example of herself, she said that she gets trolled because she has stood against discrimination. She said,

“I get trolled at least once every day.”

She also talks about an incident with a director, where the plot of the movie was changed completely because the hero had asked for it.

“You cut down on your remuneration or you are out.”

The actress is now glad that she is in a position, where she can demand her rights because she deserves it. She said:

“I am in that kind of a role where they waited for me for months. I am thankful to that producer who realized that if not her nobody else can do that role.”
