Siddharth starred in a web series Escaype Live on Disney+ Hotstar this year. It circled around social media’s dark side and featured Jaaved Jaaferi.

Siddhart’s controversy:

Siddharth was part of a dispute in January when he was booked by the cybercrime branch of Hyderabad Police over his tweet against Legend Indian Badminton player Saina Nehwal.

A case was reported under IPC Section 509 (word, gesture or act intended to offend the modesty of women). Under applicable sections of the Information Technology Act, a senior police officer told PTI.

He later apologised publicly, calling his statement a “rude joke” and realised that he could not “explain my tone and words.”

Siddharth had responded to Saina Nehwal’s tweet on PM Narendra Modi’s security violation in Punjab, but his tweet attracted much flak for being ‘sexist’. The National Commission for Women (NCW) even requested Twitter India to “immediately” block the artists’ handles.

Siddharth has starred in some Tamil, Telugu and Hindi films. He is well known for his role with Aamir Khan in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s Rang De Basanti.
