Actor Jaideep Ahlawat shares his views on recent film An Action Hero

Key Takeaways:

  • Jaideep Ahlawat was a well-known face on OTT this year for his upcoming series The Broken News, Bloody Brothers, and the anthology Tryst With Destiny, all of which will premiere in 2022.

The series The Broken News, Bloody Brothers, and also the anthology Tryst With Destiny, all premiering in 2022, Jaideep Ahlawat was a well-known face on OTT this year. An Action Hero, the actor’s sole feature film, came out on December 2.

With Jaideep playing the role of the deceased man’s brother Bhoora, Ayushmann Khurrana portrays Manaav, a movie star, on the run after committing an accident killing. Despite favourable reviews from critics and fans, the movie didn’t go well at the box office.

The actor explained why he doesn’t have expectations for his projects in an interview. While he acknowledged that the goal when making a movie is for it to be seen by as many people as possible, occasionally, things don’t go as planned.

Jaideep clarified: “I mean, after a movie bombs, surely there is some reflection on what might have gone wrong with the movie? Although it is receiving almost favourable reviews, few people go to the movies to see it.

It’s depressing, and nobody wants to dwell on that emotion. It is not pleasant because it results from so many people’s labour. But I don’t get worried about it.”

He added, “It’s a smart film, it’s fast-paced, it has humour, and it has action,” in the interview with Film Companion.

It can be a little confusing when the general public doesn’t show up to watch the movie because everyone who has seen it has only been complimentary to me about the movie.

But it’s alright. The actor said, “It’s a phase; sometimes it pans out and sometimes it doesn’t,” with a philosophical tone. There’s no use criticizing oneself.

As a society, we are still not at the point where we regularly attend plays and movies as we did before the pandemic.

I believe that because of this, we are less accustomed to it. It’s just my opinion, but hopefully, this phase will pass, and we can move on.

Next is Jaideep in Sujoy Ghosh’s The Devotion of Suspect X, which also stars Kareena Kapoor and Vijay Varma.

Three of Us, his other major motion picture, recently debuted at the Goa International Film Festival in November. Swanand Kirkire and Shefali Shah are also featured in the Avinash Arun-directed movie.
